Rules

The tournament will follow NYS High School Lacrosse Rules except the following:

  • There will be no body checks allowed.  Players must play the ball at all times.
  • Each game consists of two 20 minute running time periods. Halftime is 5 minutes. A game ending tied ends in a tie
  • National HS Federation rules apply
  • NO body checks and NO cross checking
  • 2 certified officials per field 
  • 10 on 10 full field
  • One timeout per game per team one minute in length.
  • Keep it in for the team ahead in last 2 minutes
  • 20 second clearing rule and 10 second offense advancing rule are in effect
  • Horn calls only on out of bounds play on the sidelines
  • Penalty time is running time and is kept on the field by the referee. The penalty will begin on official’s restart of play after penalty is called. Penalty time will be kept by the officials.
  • Penalties are called and served as they are in regular field lacrosse. The referee releases penalized players when their serve time has expired. Penalty time does not start until the penalized player takes a knee, out of bounds, at the midline, on the bench side of the field.
  • Technical fouls are 1 minute and personal fouls are 2 minutes
  • Face-offs after each goal and the beginning of each half.
  • Team members must wear matching jerseys or tank tops which are numbered
  • Maximum of four long sticks on the field at a time. Box sticks are illegal.  All stick heads and handles must meet NCAA regulations (40-42 inches long or 52-72 inches long, head must be 6 inches wide across the top, ball may not rest in pocket below the bottom edge of the head when stick is held parallel to the ground, etc.).

Overall

  • All participants (athletes, coaches, spectators) are required to adhere to the US Lacrosse Code of Conduct. 
  • Mouthguards, armpads, and shoulder pads on all players
  • Any fighting or flagrant disrespect toward an official or any other person will result in expulsion for the remainder of the tournament. No Exceptions, No Refunds.
  • We reserve the right to shorten games or cancel games due to inclement weather.
  • Clean up your bench area and your team area.  Garbage cans will be located between both benches.

Tournament Policies

Please remember that this is a tournament to allow kids the opportunity to play and have fun. THIS IS NOT A “WIN IT ALL” TYPE OF TOURNAMENT! Please instruct all your players to respect each other, the game, the facility and the opposing team. The BLA expects all players, coaches, referees and fans to honor the game with high character and good sportsmanship.

Tournament Information

  • Coaches please note that there will be a certified trainer on site. If there is an injury on the field please notify the referee/field manager and he will contact the trainer immediately.
  • Please have all players pick up any trash that they may have accumulated after a game (water bottles etc.)
  • Registration will take place in the morning. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your first game to check in at the registration table.

Tournament Disclaimer

  • The BLA holds the right to cancel any games due to unplayable weather such as lightning, hail or severe rain. There will be no refunds given.

The BLA holds the right to remove any player, coach or fan from the tournament grounds for conduct that is detrimental to the game, tournament or tournament grounds.

SEVERE WEATHER POLICY

  • The gymnasium on your map will be open in the case teams have to take cover due to lightning, hail or severe rain
  • In the case of lightning, hail or severe rain please instruct all players to drop their sticks, take off their helmets and go to a designated area assigned by the coach and/or team.
  • As stated in all previous literature sent out and on our websites (www.fallbrawltournament.com) the BLA holds the right to cancel any games and/or the tournament due too inclement weather. There will be no refunds given.

In case of a cancellation we may not be able to call every team in time so we are leaving it up to the coaches/managers to assist us with a smooth cancellation process by phoning Butch Chadwick (716-983-5994) or Mike Wright (716-866-2667) or going to the BLA website www.bla.buffalolacrosse.com and looking under the updates section on the bottom of the first page.

Since the games start at 9am we would like to have a cancellation notice no later than 7:30am

Please be advised that the weather in Buffalo can change at any given moment so cancellation notices may happen after 7:30am, BUT WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO ACCOMMODATE EVERYONE and have any time changes or cancellations up by 7:30am.
